The silver bullion coins are selected on an “our choice of year” basis, and any of these coins considered to be in “minty” condition can be chosen.

Minty Coins

Minty coins are a hand-picked selection of orderable bullion coins that are in mint condition and usually, but not always, have been minted in recent years. Please note “Minty” is a specific term and is not a traditional grade.

What Is The Special Scheme?

The Special Scheme allows bullion dealers to pay VAT only on their profit margin, rather than charging VAT on the full value of the item.

As VAT is only charged on the dealer’s margin, not the full value, the overall purchase price is lower than for newly minted silver bullion.

The Special Scheme applies to many second-hand silver coins and bars that the dealer has purchased from private individuals.

Please note: The Special Scheme does not apply to investment gold bullion, as this is already VAT-exempt in the UK.

Silver British Coins

British silver Britannia bullion coins were first introduced in 1997. Until 2013, the coins were struck from 0.958 fine Britannia silver. In 2013, this changed to 0.999 fine silver.

The coins have a face value of £2 and contain one troy ounce of silver. The coins feature Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, with Britannia on the reverse.

Minty Britannias are pre-owned, but newly minted Silver 1 oz Britannias may also be available for a slightly higher price.
